Trader
Purpose
In the Trader, you can exchange your Goods with other players. The main goal here will be to exchange the overproduced Goods, which are produced in your boosted Manufactories, for Goods you may need.
Requirements
In order to build the Trader, you will need to unlock its technology in the Research Tree and have the required resources. It will also need a street connection to the Main Hall. It cannot be sold nor rebuilt. The Trader can be upgraded once you research the Halflings.
Accept Offers
Clicking on the Trader you will see 4 tabs. The first one is "Accept Offers".
Here you can see all Offers from other players that are within your offer range.
On the top, you will find two drop-down menus, which allow you to filter the offered and/or the demanded Goods. You can accept Offers if you have the demanded amount of Goods at your disposal. Acceptable Offers are listed first.
- Trader Fee: Some Offers are marked with a fee icon. The Trader will take a 50 % additional fee for those Offers when they are from players you have not discovered yet. You can discover a player by scouting a province next to his city. Offers from discovered players or Fellowship members have no fee.
Hint: Ancient Wonders can reduce your Trader's Fee! |
Please notice: The Trader withholds the fee, so it won’t be received by the user who offered the trade.
- Rating: The Trader rates an offer from 0 to 3 stars, 0 being very expensive, 3 being a bargain.
How is an offer rated?
Goods are grouped into three qualities: Basic Goods, Refined Goods and Precious Goods. The ratio between Refined and Basic is 1:1.5. (For example: 100 Refined Goods is worth 150 Basic Goods.) The ratio between Precious and Refined is the same. The ratio between Precious and Basic is 1:2.25.
The Rating compares offer and demand:
- 0 Star - Very expensive
- 1 Star - Somewhat expensive
- 2 Stars - Fair (offer and demand have the same value)
- 3 Stars - A bargain
Place Offers
Here you can place an offer.
To make an offer, click the Goods icon you want to offer, then the Goods you want back. Add the amount you want to exchange and the system will automatically fill the field with the “fair” corresponding amount (so the offer will be shown with a 2-star-rating when viewed by others). You can type in a different amount you want back but be aware that the system won’t allow you to make an unreasonable offer.
If the system detects an unreasonable offer it will auto-correct the amounts to an acceptable range.
For example: You offer 100 Planks and want 1000 Marble, The Trader will suggest to you, as an alternative, to ask for 800 Marble instead of 1000. This offer will still be rated very badly of course, but it will fall within the acceptable range for trades.
Hint: You can only have a maximum of 60 offers in the market at the same time. |
Your Offers
In this tab you will see the offers you have placed in the market but which have not yet been accepted. When you place an offer in the market, the goods are removed from your storage in your Main Hall, however, you can, at any time, delete your offers and receive the offered Goods back.
Merchant
When you reach Chapter 18 - Team Spirit, you need to upgrade your Trader to level 7 to be able to trade Ascended Goods with other players. By doing so, the Merchants will become available in your Trader! Here you can hire a Merchant to trade your Ascended Goods immediately. You can hire up to 5 Merchants for a limited time.
Once you have hired a Merchant, he is immediately available to trade with you, but remember, Merchants only accept fair offers, so no haggling!
When you trade with a Merchant he will offer your Ascended Goods to other players, so it will take some time before he returns. The amount of Ascending Goods you can trade at a time depends on the level of your Main Hall.
You can rush them by using Time Boosters or Diamonds. If someone accepts a Merchant offer, he becomes available immediately!
A Merchant can be hired for 20 days. After that period is over you need to rehire them.
Hint: Work together with your Fellowship to speed up your Merchants |
Wholesaler
This is the tab where you will find some Trader default offers. The offers listed here are not profitable but of course, you might want to use the wholesaler, if you do not find any trading partner available or if you want to get rid of a certain overproduction of resources.
You will only be able to purchase Goods that are not listed as your Boosted Good (under the Main Hall - relics tab). You can purchase these Goods using your Boosted Goods, Coins, or Supplies in exchange for Goods of the same tier. The number of Goods you will get in exchange for your Boosted Goods will be 1: 5. For example, you will get 100 Steel in exchange for 500 Marble. Value-wise, you will pay even more Coins and Supplies for the same quantity of Steel. Every time you accept a specific offer, the wholesaler will increase the cost of the offer you previously bought. The wholesaler will reset the prices daily.
Every time you unlock a “Production Boost” in the Research Tree, your wholesaler will add the respective offers to his catalog.
The number of goods you have to pay and the goods you get back depend on your Main Hall level. However, when you use the Blooming traders guild you can get a more favorable offer.
Example:
- Your bonus Goods are Marble, Crystal and Gems;
- When you unlock the Trader, you have already unlocked the Marble production boost;
- When you build the Trader and open the wholesaler, you can exchange your Coins, Supplies, or Boosted Good for the Goods of the same tier that are listed.
Ex: If Marble is your Boosted Good, you will be able to use Marble to purchase Planks and/or Steel.
- When you unlock your next production boost, "Crystal", you can also exchange Coins, Supplies and Crystal for Scrolls and Silk;
- When you unlock your last production boost, "Gems", you can additionally exchange Coins, Supplies and Gems for Elixir and Magic Dust;
Hint: The Wholesaler offers can be improved with Ancient Wonders |
Trader Upgrade
Improved Trader (Seeds)
When you reach Chapter XI Halflings, one of the first technologies you will unlock is "Improved Trader", which allows you to upgrade to the Trader. This adds an 'Upgrade' tab which allows you to upgrade the Trader to level 2.
Upgrading the Trader will not affect its current functionality but will add a new tab with the title 'Collect'.
In the 'Collect' tab, the Trader will auto-produce a new permanent resource, Divine Seeds. The resource works like Mana, including production and early collect, display in the HUD, decay etc. In addition, there is a Collection Bonus. Every time the player collects Divine Seeds from the Trader, he will get an additional amount of Seeds, according to his combined AW levels.
- Production
- - The Trader generates Divine Seeds every 24 hours. This is based on one Seed per Main Hall level multiplied by the number of Provinces completed.
- - Collection Bonus. Every early collection receives an extra amount based on one Seed per Main Hall level multiplied by all your AW levels combined.
Divine Seeds are construction costs for Culture Buildings and unlock costs for technologies, both starting from this chapter.
Advanced Trader 3-5 (Sentient Goods)
It is only when you get into Chapter XII - The Elementals, that you can upgrade the Trader to level 3. The technology "Advanced Trader" is unlocked early in the chapter. With Chapter XIII - The Amuni - you will be able to research "Advanced Trader 2" and upgrade the Trader to level 4. Finally, in Chapter XIV - Constructs, level 5 is unlocked with the research "Advanced Trader 3"
Starting from level 3, the Trader has been adapted for you to trade Sentient Goods:
Sentient Goods Trading Offers
- Sentient Goods are added to the list like all other offers, using the same sorting rules
- Filtering for offers for specific sentient goods only works if you have researched the scouting technology of the Elementals
- You have access to a much wider area of trading partners on the World Map than you do for the Standard Goods
- Offers from players that are not within your group of trading partners (for standard goods) are marked specifically; a tooltip informs that you can only trade Sentient Goods with this player
- Additional filters for Standard Goods only and Sentient Goods only
Sentient Goods Order Placement
- The drop-down menu of the "You Offer" line works as before, only listing Goods (and Sentient Goods) you actually have:
- Sentient Goods Offers decay every night by 10%. Decayed offered Sentient Goods will reappear as Standard Goods in your storage:
- The limit number of 60 trades per player remains unchanged
- It is not allowed to trade Goods for Sentient Goods
- Once the Production Boost technology is unlocked for the Sentient Quality 1 or 2 Good, you will find respective offers in the Wholesaler tab:
Advanced Trader 6 (Unurium)
The first Technology in Chapter XVII - Traders Of Unur is the "Advanced Trader 4" technology. With this technology researched, you can upgrade the Trader to level 6. This upgrade will unlock a new resource called Unurium . Similarly to Seeds, Unurium decays by 10% every night.
With this new permanent resource, you have to decide which one you want to focus on as you can only auto-produce one of the two resources at a time!
In the 'Collect' tab, the Trader can auto-produce the new resource, Unurium. This resource works like Seeds, including production and early collection, display in the HUD, decay, etc.
In addition, there is a Collection Bonus. Every time Unurium is collected from the Trader, an additional amount of Unurium is added, based on required Culture.
- Production
- - When you activate the Unurium production, the Trader generates Unurium every 24 hours. The amount of Unurium is based on your Working Population.
- - Collection Bonus. Every early collection receives an extra amount based on your Required Culture.
The production can be adjusted anytime, but beware that if it is adjusted, the production is reset and the chosen resource starts the auto-production from the beginning.
Superior Trader 7-9 (Ascended Goods)
It is only when you get into Chapter XVIII - Team Spirit, that you can upgrade the Trader to the Superior Trader. The technology "Superior Trader" is unlocked early in the chapter. With Chapter XIX - Revenge of the Exile - you will be able to research "Prepared Trader" and upgrade the Trader to level 6. Finally, in Chapter XX - The Power of Music, level 7 is unlocked with the research "Inspired Trader"
Starting from level 5, the Trader has been adapted for you to trade Ascending Goods and the use of the merchant.
